Literacy Intervention Team

Who We Are

Winthrop University’s Literacy Intervention Team (LIT) mobilizes college students to serve as reading tutors, to alleviate illiteracy in the Rock Hill community.

What We Do

Our trained university LIT members work with local kindergarten through fifth-grade students on literacy-based activities such as one-on-one reading, group reading, and guided reading to improve basic reading skills. Team members meet with children various times a week Monday through Friday, based on their class schedule and availability. Currently serving at Richmond Drive Elementary.
