The 3rd Annual Blue Star Blitz is a day full of fun at The Ann Springs Close Greenway! Join us on Saturday, March 30th, and take part in competitive events - including trail races, short track mountain bike racing, a geogaching Bingo event, live music and a Blitz Biergarten where you can taste more than 40 beers, from over a dozen regional craft breweries.
Volunteer Needs Description - There are several different positions for volunteers. Volunteers will help run the events, so they run smoothly.
Volunteer Positions:
Registration/packet pick-ups They will be helping with registrations for short track (5K and 10K), geocaching, and the biergarten. They will help pass out shirts, bibs and other items going to the participants.
Awards - They will help set up the awards, and anything needed to help the awards ceremony run smoothly.
Course monitors (running) - Volunteers will not be running. They will be used on the 5K and 10K courses.They will be put at a specific location along the course route so they direct the runners the correct way, and cheer them on!
Hydration stations - The volunteers will be located at the water stops on the 10K/5K course. They will prep all the water cups before the race. During the race, they will replenish the water cups , and pass them out to the runners. After the race they will clean up the water cups around the water stop area.
Finish line food - The volunteers will prep all of the food and water at the finish line prior to the first participant coming in. Then they will monitor the table and replenish food and water as needed.
Parking team - Assist and direct guests as they arrive at the Adventure Road entrance.
Back-up timers for the short track - Volunteers will be helping the S 2 F timer, by writing down the cyclists as they cross the finish line.
We will be proving confirming details with all volunteers, the week of the event. Then the morning of the event, as the volunteers arrive, we will give them a detailed description of what they will be doing that day, where they will be located and answer any questions they may have.
Friends of The Greenway tent - Assist with greeting our "Friends of The Greenway" ot Greenway donors, as they arrive to their complimentary tent. In this tent they will receive a sticker to indicate they are a "friend" and two (2) drink tickets. Volunteers will work with Greenway staff in this tent.
