Who We Are

For over 70 years, United Way of York County has improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of your friends and neighbors. As the community has grown and changed, so have we. We not only raise funds for local programs, but we work with community partners to find long-term, strategic solutions to problems that send ripple effects across our region. For a York County family, good health, a strong education and a steady job paying a living wage can be the difference between financial stability and instability. These three components -- education, financial stability and health -- are interlaced and mutually dependent. Our families are strong and our communities are vibrant when these components are cohesively working together. Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: •a quality education that leads to a stable job •a stable job provides income to support a family through retirement •enough income supports a family's good health That’s why each year the United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life: •Education – helping children and youth achieve their potential •Financial Stability – promoting financial stability and independence •Health – improving people’s health Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy. Creating Change Our goal at the United Way is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living United means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. Be the One.
