Who We Are
We provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities. And we couldn’t do any of it without you.
As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, we develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Carolinas has been serving children and their families in the Charlotte area for 50 years. Serving York County, SC since 2016, we offer the traditional community and site-based mentoring and innovative specialty programs that connect caring adults with local children in meaningful one-to-one relationships.
What We Do
Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteer mentors ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") in York County, SC. These matches empower children. We ask volunteers for a one year commitment to make a difference in the life of a child facing adversity. The focus of the Big/Little relationship is on friendship and academics.
