Winthrop is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy through service and volunteerism, demonstrating how joining together in service can transform your life and the lives of others. Service not only improves the community, it has the power to unite people, build bridges, and heal divides.
This service opportunity is unique in that students will conduct a campus clean-up while learning more about sustainability during the scavenger hunt. Specifically, students will learn about the campus Office of Sustainability, climate and energy, recycling, water, environmental justice, and food topics relating to social welfare, economic vitality, and ecological integrity, the three aspects of sustainability.
Volunteers are needed to man the tables where information will be provided about the six topics: Office of Sustainability, climate and energy, recycling, water, environmental justice, and food. When signing up, please tell me what table you want to be assigned. We are looking for at least 2 volunteers per table.
The tables will be in the following locations:
- Office of Sustainability - Courtyard at Conservatory of Music
- Recycling - Scholars Walk at Kinard
- Water - The new Fountain on the Front Campus
- Climate and Energy - Campus Green
- Environmental and Social Justice - Diversity and Inclusion Garden at Rutledge
- Food - Eagle Eatery
