Over the past two months, we have made progress in revitalizing the Department of Nutrition garden behind the Winthrop University Educational Community Garden. There is, however, still a good deal of work to do. Below is a list of the tasks we are focusing on:
- Add soil to the newly cleaned-out beds.
- Owners of beds will be permitted to plant in ready beds.
- Remove debris from the garden area.
- Mow and trim along the fence and beds.
*On April 29th, the York County Master Gardeners will be on site to sell plants. We also plan this to be an Earth Day event where folks may share the garden with the Winthrop community.
While the address is 954 Constitution Blvd., GPS takes folks to the Cherry Road parking lot. The entrance to the garden is between the traffic circle and Cherry Road, across the street from the RH District 3 Football stadium on Constitution Blvd. Parking is limited in the garden. There is parking across the street or in the parking lot at Winthrop Facilities Management on Columbia Ave. From there, it is a short walk down Constitution to the garden. Teams are welcome, but please submit registration for each individual, so we have an accurate head count.
