Spring is near and it's time to 'spruce' up the City and Winthrop University! Because litter is an ongoing problem in our community and on Winthrop's campus, we must stay vigilant in our efforts to clean it up and improve the appearance of our communities and campus. Spruce of Spring is sponsored by the City of Rock Hill and Rock Hill Clean and Green.
This litter clean-up is open to STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF.
- All supplies (gloves, bags, trash grabbers, vests) will be provided.
- All volunteers must complete the attached assumption of risk form.
- All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
- Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather conditions and plan to bring water or a sports drink to stay hydrated during the clean-up.
- For safety reasons, no one will be allowed to pick up litter by themselves – all volunteers will be grouped with at least one other person.
- Contact us and/or add a note if you want to do the litter pick-up in a specific campus area. For instance, if you work in the Library, you may want to clean up litter from around the Library, Withers, Dinkins, and Stewart House.
- We can accommodate different needs. If you are in a wheelchair, you may collect litter along sidewalks and in parking lots.
