Litter is an ongoing challenge in our community. On Saturday, December 2nd, we are asking for volunteers to help clean up Winthrop's Research and Recreation area (the Farm or Lake Area) and surrounding neighborhoods to show the community that we are unified in our efforts to make Rock Hill and Winthrop University welcoming. This litter clean-up is being organized by a Scout for his conservation project and is open to STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF. Below are important details about the event.
- All supplies (gloves, bags, trash grabbers, vests) will be provided.
- All volunteers must complete the attached assumption of risk form.
- All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
- Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather conditions and plan to bring water or a sports drink to stay hydrated during the clean-up.
- For safety reasons, no one will be allowed to pick up litter alone – all volunteers will be grouped with at least one other person.
- Volunteers should plan to arrive by 8:50 a.m.
- Contact us if you have any questions.
The required Assumption of Risk form is attached.
An email will be sent the day before the event with additional information including parking.
