Seeking Family Literacy Volunteers!
Come be a part of our welcoming community, where parents and preschool children can learn and grow together in a family-friendly, supportive learning environment. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that "Parents are at the Heart of Education." Parents have the opportunity to earn their GED, learn English, and receive the support they need to achieve their family and career goals, all while their children are engaged in fun, educational activities. You’ll gain valuable experience in helping to prepare preschool children for school success, enhance your understanding of child development, and enjoy a variety of enriching family activities that strengthen bonds and encourage growth.
Volunteers are needed to assist with daily activities in each of our classrooms.
ESL Class: Mentor English language learners in our multi-level class assisting students with language acquisition and the opportunity to practice their skills. Although there is no language requirement for mentors, bilingual abilities especially Spanish is a plus!
HSED Class: Mentor adult students who are working towards their GED. Assist students in practicing basic skills needed to obtain their GED.
Early Childhood: Assist and engage preschool students in daily activities including classroom instruction, art projects, circle time, free play and outdoor fun while the children's parents are learning in their respective classrooms.
Volunteers will join the instructional team to help engage and support students. Training will be provided.
